The Edmonton Oilers have had a big impact on the San Jose Sharks winning ways over the last two months and hope to buck the trend on Monday at the SAP Center. After losing 14 times through the seasons first 24 games, San Jose has posted a 17-7-2 record - tied for the third-most wins in the NHL since Nov. 29. Edmonton (13-28-9) has supplied two of the Sharks victories in that time. After winning at home on Dec. 7, the Oilers fell in San Jose two days later and also lost at the Shark Tank on Dec. 18. They have lost their last five road contests with the Sharks and 13 of the last 14 dating back to 2008. Edmonton, 4-13-7 away from home this season, hasnt won a road game in regulation since Nov. 9, but it won back-to-back away contests in shootouts and seemed to be on the cusp of breaking its regulation skid Saturday in Calgary. But the Oilers allowed four third-period goals in a 4-2 loss. We stopped playing simple, goaltender Ben Scrivens told the Oilers official website. Youve got to give Calgary credit. They lead the league in third-period comebacks and we just added to their total by not being ready to play in the third. I dont know how many times we have to go through it before we learn our lesson. Scrivens made 29 saves but upped his GAA to 3.05, which ranks among the worst in the league. Backup Viktor Fasth has been even less effective, posting a 3.29 GAA in 19 appearances. Jordan Eberle scored his team-leading 13th goal Saturday, and has 18 points in 18 career meetings - including a seven-game point streak - against the Sharks. The Sharks (27-17-6) had lost three straight at home before beginning a stretch of seven straight at home in the middle of January. San Jose has gone 4-1-1 so far, including wins against a pair of the Western Conferences best teams in its last two. The Sharks returned from the All-Star break with a 6-3 win over NHL-best Anaheim on Thursday, then beat Chicago 2-0 on Saturday behind 31 saves from Antti Niemi. He played awesome, Brent Burns said. Hes real sturdy back there. We feel good when hes there. We know hes there to back us up if they get a good chance, and he showed it tonight. Niemi has a 2.51 goals-against average this season, but has returned to top form recently. He has posted a 1.67 GAA over the Sharks current three-game win streak, and is 5-0-1 in his last six starts. The Sharks offensive stars have also been hot of late. Joe Thornton has five points over the last three games, and Patrick Marleau, Logan Couture and Joe Pavelski have two goals apiece over the three wins. Pavelski has five goals and three assists in his last five against Edmonton. We believe were a good hockey team, Burns told the Sharks official website. Its just a matter of winning, thats all it comes down to, getting points. I think throughout the year weve had some good winning streaks. Its just about putting points in the bank every night. Wyatt Teller Jersey . - Joao Plata scored twice in the final 24 minutes, including the winner in stoppage time, to help Real Salt Lake remain unbeaten with a 3-2 victory over the winless Chicago Fire on Saturday night. Jeremy Kerley Jersey . Torres scored the first goal by an English team in the knockout phase of the Champions League this season when he met Cezar Azpilicuetas cutback in the ninth minute of their first leg match in the last 16. But Chelsea failed to make the most of its counterattacks and the Turkish champions equalized in the second half after gaining in confidence and cutting out their defensive mistakes. http://www.cheapbillsjerseyssale.com/?tag=jordan-mills-jersey-sale . HEROES P.K. Subban – Scored the overtime winner and assisted on Montreal’s earlier goal, both on the power play, in a 2-1 win over Nashville. Jim Kelly Jersey . Top-seeded Djokovic swept to a 6-1, 6-3 win over 51st-ranked Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain in just 57 minutes, but fourth-seeded Federer had to see off a serious challenge from 48th-ranked Radek Stepanek of the Czech Republic before coming through 6-2, 6-7 (4), 6-3. Logan Thomas Jersey . - The New England Patriots needed help on defence so they added three experienced players at midseason.BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Michigan State guard Garry Harris shouldnt be on the court for more than 30 minutes a game right now, according to Spartans coach Tom Izzo. The sophomore is still trying to find his way back from an ankle injury thats kept him out of the lineup three times this season and Izzo said he isnt fit or on top of his game. "I swear hes not what hes going to be," Izzo said. Tell that to Indiana. Harris scored 26 points, including 17 in the first half, to lead No. 5 Michigan State to a 73-56 victory over the Hoosiers on Saturday. Harris played 37 minutes for the Spartans (13-1, 2-0 Big Ten), spending most of them picking apart Indiana (10-5, 0-2). "Once we see some shots go down early, it can be a long day for the other team," Harris said, conceding that Izzo may be right about his fitness. "I was dead tired at the end of the game." Hoosiers coach Tom Crean, who said his team fell to a potential national champion, called Harris lethal and efficient. "Gary was an assassin today," Crean said. The win ended a run of three straight Indiana wins over the Spartans. Michigan State turned 13 Indiana turnovers into 20 points -- with Harris the finisher on several of the plays -- capitalizing on a problem that has plagued the Hoosiers all season. They are averaging 16.4 turnovers a game, more than any other team in the conference. Branden Dawson added 13 points for the Spartans. Yogi Ferrell led Indiana with 17 points while Will Sheehey added 13. After falling behind by as many as 15 points early in the second half the Hoosiers made a run, using freshman guard Stanford Robinson to clamp down on Harris and finding points from someone other than Ferrell. "I wish we would have got him on Harris in the first half," Crean said of Robinson. Sheehey buried a 3-pointer with 8:54 left in the game to close the gap to 50-41, turning and sprrinting back down court as the shot went through and the crowd erupted.dddddddddddd. But at the other end of the court, Indiana couldnt come up with a rebound off a series of Spartan misses, finally watching Harris come back to life for what would become a 5-point play. Harris hit a 3-pointer and drew a foul from Robinson. And as Harris pumped his first in front of the celebrating Spartans bench, Robinson was hit with a technical foul. Harris made two of the three free throws and the Spartans were up 55-41. Without Ferrells 10 first-half points, the Hoosiers might have been all but out of the game by halftime. Michigan State turned Indianas eight turnovers into 13 first-half points and a 33-24 lead. The Hoosiers had no answer for Harris, not even Ferrell. Harris had 17 points by the half, including a 3-pointer with 45 seconds left that he hit over Ferrell, who fell as he scrambled to get to him and was sprawled on the court at his feet. Indiana went up 9-5 in the opening 4 minutes on a 3-pointer by Ferrell. But the Spartans shut down the Hoosiers momentum in a hurry, going on a 10-0 run that was capped by a layup and free throw from Harris with 11:35 left. Harris entered the game averaging a team-high 17.4 points a game. But he still hasnt been the player he or Izzo expected this season. So he spent part of the morning, he and Izzo said, watching video of his play from last season and said it helped. Now Izzo, who said he apologized to Harris for leaving him on the court too long, hopes he can build on this game. "Youve got to have guys who make plays," Izzo said. "I think Gary Harris is going to be that guy for us this year." Michigan State is 7-0 on the road this season but plays its next two games, against No. 3 Ohio State on Tuesday and Minnesota on Jan. 11, at home. The Hoosiers will try for their first Big Ten win at Penn State on Jan. 11.
